These are some of the questions for which Tejas wanted an answer. And now he takes you through a journey in his quest to find the ultimate truth. He is going through a different kind of experience and is in turmoil. Why?

The story of 'Alag' begins with a death. Hemant Rastogi is a middle-aged man who was supposed to be staying all alone in a house. Suddenly there is news about his death and police is called. Upon investigation, police realizes that there is something eerie, something strange about the whole setting. From the house to its lone occupant, there is some secret behind the closed doors that made its presence felt. What was it?

Their doubts about the house become stronger when neighbors tell them that not just Hemant Rastogi but someone else occupied the house too.

Someone whose identity was not known to anyone
Someone who gave an impression of walking alone in the dead of the night

Doubts start arising about this person. Is it a living being? Or a ghost?

As suspense continues to pile up, a shocking finding hits everyone hard! Police comes to know that there indeed was another occupant to the house. This person was a young boy who had been hidden in the house for, believe it or not, EIGHTEEN YEARS, and didn't have any knowledge about the outside world.

This boy was none other than Hemant's own son - TEJAS [Akshay Kapoor]!

Why? That's the question, which came to everyone's mind after the shocking finding! Why would anyone keep his own son confined in dark isolation? What was his fault? What would be his life from hereon?

It is decided that Tejas would be admitted to an institute that was run by Purva [Dia Mirza]. The sole aim of this institution was to look after orphans and those youngsters who had just stepped into the world of crime and show some hopes of returning back to the normal life. Purva is happy to look after Tejas but is meanwhile intrigued by his personality!

He is simply different from any other man. He looks 'different'. He acts 'different'. In nutshell, he is just 'alag' from whatever she had seen in mankind so far! What's so different about him?

As Purva shows her care and love for Tejas, he too is more than excited to taste the flavor of the world that is hitherto unknown to him. Yes, being a well read person who had finished countless books while in isolation, he did have a fair (though theoretical) idea about the outside world, but it was going to be some journey for him when it came to living life practically!

While Tejas wants to learn everything around him he also realizes that the world as seen in books was quite different from what he was seeing through his own eyes. Things were not merely good or bad, black or white - there were far more complexities involved!

Meanwhile Purva too starts observing some unknown traits about Tejas. He was not just different when it came to his physical self. There were many more factors about him that amazed her and made her look at him in awe! Mankind because Tejas had some special powers that were never before witnesses that! In nutshell, Tejas was a powerful person that belied all logic and theory!

Who is Tejas? What are his powers? From where has he come? Is he someone from the outside world who has been thrust upon earth? Or is he God's gift to mankind?

Most importantly, how does someone like Tejas fit in today's society?

Anjali had married quite early but was soon divorced and came back to live with her mother and stepfather. Anjali was brilliant. She was a professor of Physics at a noted university in Calcutta and a writer of repute in her field. Mahesh had become quite successful in the corporate world and lived separately with his wife Padma, their eight year-old twins Samir and Shreya and newborn daughter Shalini. Mitali, the youngest, was the most unfortunate of Rewa's three children.

Whether it was because of Rewa's late pregnancy at the age of forty or simply as a result of some genetic quirk, Mitali or Meethi turned out to be mentally and physically challenged. She suffered both from chronic schizophrenia and epilepsy and had to be cared for by her family. In spite of her illness, Meethi had been quite functional up to her early twenties. She had even got engaged to a young man called Joydeep or Jojo, as she called him. The family, Meethi's elder sister Anu in particular, had been against the engagement at first because of Meethi's medical problems but had finally given in with good grace. There had been a huge engagement ceremony, which was more like a wedding than an engagement.

After that, disaster had struck! Meethi, who was working for a publishing house as a journalist, had gone by herself on a journalistic assignment outside Calcutta where political goons had raped her repeatedly. This incident had acted as a trigger for Meethi's hitherto dormant schizophrenia. Joydeep who was only twenty-six at the time, was unable to relate to Meethi any longer and had broken off the engagement. Meethi had become depressive to the point of being suicidal and had even had to be put away in a home for the mentally ill for a while.

Later she was brought back home but she was never the same again. She now lived completely in a delusional world where she was married to Jojo and was Mrs. Joydeep Ray with five children of her own. She believed that she lived with her husband and children at 15 Park Avenue and would insist on being taken to look for her house, which she could never find.

After Sunil died, Anu became the sole caregiver to her widowed mother and schizophrenic sister. As a result Anu became a much stressed individual and Meethi's doctor Kunal Barua advised her to take a break from work - to go away for a holiday far from her stressful city to a place where the air was pure and the climate was healthy.

Anu, Meethi, their mother Rewa and Meethi's attendant Charu came to Bhutan for the prescribed holiday. By a strange co-incidence Joydeep was here too with his wife Lakshmi and their two children. He saw Meethi quiet unexpectedly while they were sightseeing and felt completely shattered at the change he saw in her. He could not get rid of his feelings of guilt and followed Anu and Meethi to their rented cottage. Anu was stunned to see him and struggled to control the feelings of intense resentment that welled up inside her. She was also worried in case Meethi had a setback when she met him - but strangely, Meethi did not recognize him at all! She continued to call him Mr. Roy after she was introduced to him never dreaming that this was in fact her beloved Jojo.

Meethi became quite friendly with Joydeep who kept coming over to their cottage in spite of his wife's reservations, and confided in him about her husband Jojo and her five children. She entreated him to help her find her house at 15 Park Avenue and to help her get away from her sister whom she imagined to be completely tyrannical!

Joydeep was miserable! He felt like a bigamist! He was in a strange situation where he was happily married to a woman he loved and with whom he had had two lovely children; yet, here was another woman who believed she was married to him and whose world with him was totally real to her! Joydeep was nonplussed. Should he go with her to look for 15 Park Avenue after they returned to Calcutta? They would not be able to find the house, of course - no such house existed except in Meethi's imagination! In fact, there was no Park Avenue on the map of Calcutta! Yet, if he did not go, Joydeep felt, he would be letting Meethi down a second time.

The story revolves around a Parsi family, Sethnas residing in the hills of Panchgani. A retired sculptor Dinshaw (Naseeruddin Shah) heads the family. Other members of the joint family comprise of Dinshaw's wife Katy (Dimple Kapadia), brother Farokh (Boman Irani), sister-in-law Tina (Simone Singh) and second brother Fardoonjee (Honey Chhaya).

Then arrives Cyrus (Saif Ali Khan) at the Sethna house and stays on.

As the movie proceeds it gains a psychological insight into the family and reveals that everything is not all right with the Sethna family. Not just that, even Cyrus comes across as a bizarre personality.

Jeetu (Shahid Kapur) is a small town hustler who is constantly in debt and dodging creditors and moneylenders. His father Jayved Prasad, a respectable retired schoolteacher and his fiancée Pooja (Sushma Reddy) are made to suffer the consequences of his instability and his debts. Everyone including Pooja's father Mohan tells Jeetu, that it would be better if he were to kill himself as he keeps getting his family into trouble. He doesn't feel that he is worthy of Pooja and encourages her to marry someone else, which she doesn't agree to.

Jeetu then jumps into the sea trying to drown him so that his family gets to claim his life insurance and pay off some of his debts. Jeetu is found entangled in fishing nets by a pair of fishermen Bandya (Paresh Rawal) and Gundya (Rajpal Yadav) who take him home with them. One of the fishermen, Gundya, owes money to Prabhat Singh Chauhan, a Gujrati businessman. On discovering Jeetu caught like a mermaid in their nets, they read a note in Jeetus pocket that leads them to assume that he is a millionaire and they hatch a scheme to give Jeetu's services to Prabhat Singh Chauhan in exchange for the money that they owe.

Jeetu, sensing he may reveal too much, plays safe and pretends to be a deaf-mute and plays along with them. Complications ensue when Chauhan's niece Shruti (Kareena Kapoor) also turns out to be a mute but not deaf. Her over protective elder brother, Mangal Singh Chauhan (Suniel Shetty), is trying to get her married but the engagement is called off, leaving her in disgrace. Jeetu's secret is revealed one night when Shruti and her cousin Meenakshi (Neha Dhupia) discover him drunk and singing. They agree to keep his secret in return he agrees to play a part in getting a greedy bridegroom to cancel his marriage to Shruti. For this he has to pretend to be Shruti's lover.

Meenakshi comes to realize that Jeetu owes people a lot of money. Jeetu appears to her as a person who could do anything for money. In the interim, Meenakshi's uncle Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri) is involved in an accident while carrying a lot of cash and Jeetu was with him all the while. Meenakshi tells the police of her suspicions about Jeetu and the police beat him up. Later Prabhat Singh comes home saying that it was Jeetu who had actually save his life by taking him to the hospital at the right time. The girls change their opinion of Jeetu after seeing this behavior and Shruti confesses her love for him.

As life goes on in the midst of trying to arrange for sums to save his mother's life, enters Neha (Geeta Basra), 22, who are on a holiday tour with her family. They book Saahil's travel agency to guide them in and around U.K. for sight seeing. Neha is full of life, simple, charming and very caring. Saahil takes them on trips around London and both Neha and Saahil have a knack of finding themselves in unusual situations. Saahil tries to con their family too on an occasion, but being caught red-handed by Neha sparks off a friendship between them.When Neha and her family are about to leave to tour Scotland, she misses the train. She is all alone left with Saahil in London. But characteristic of hers - she asks Saahil to take her to Scotland by road. Saahil refuses, but has to give in to it and takes her in the car. During this journey Neha develops proximity for Saahil and senses that she is in love with him.

On reaching Scotland, Saahil comes to know that his mother's condition has become critical and there are few chances that she may survive now. He is left like a sole loner all alone in this cold country. He tries to do everything right from gambling for quick money with the last chunk of money left to selling himself literally. He is unable to see any way out of this situation, except one option…and indecent option…He was once asked by a stranger to sell girls to him and will be paid heavily for it, but he strongly resented it, but life now brings him to a situation where it is the only option. In a spate of madness Saahil makes a deal of handing over Neha to the stranger for the money required saving his mother. The stranger works for Kunaal Malik (Ashmit Patel).

He had the powers to see the souls and the spirits. A spiritualist, he had a compass as his companion, which never failed to guide him in case of presence of anything that was supernatural.

While for Raj this was a passion, for Suraj this was just a waste of time and effort, as he himself didn't believe in the supernatural. On the other hand Radha favored her brother-in-law and liked him for what he was!

Aditya is engaged to Sonia (Bipasha Basu), a fashion designer about to make her mark in the field. As individuals, Aditya and Sonia were not on the same wavelength. In between work, co-incidence or destiny makes him bump into Jia (Katrina Kaif) more than once. Jia, daughter of business tycoon Yashwardhan Birla, has come to Canada all alone to shop for her wedding with the business giant, Karan Raichand.

Jia was a simple girl with simple needs. She had got everything she could ask for in her childhood, but never time from her ever so busy father. And now the man her father had chosen for her hardly had any time to spend with her too. And that is when she found a friend in Aditya. Aditya and Jia manage to spend time with each other and as time passes, the friendship between them grows.

Being an amazing driver, Aditya gets a chance from his company to participate in a car rally. And somehow he persuades Jia to participate with him, and wins it too. On returning from the destination of the rally, their car gets stuck in the snow and they have to spend the night together. They share intimate moments, which make them forget that they were engaged, but not to each other.

One day, a village goon named Rana (Parmeet Sethi) takes advantage of Durga's handicap and attempts to rape her. Luckily Rohit comes to her rescue, which leaves a furious Rana making all sorts of threats against Rohit. Later, Rohit takes Durga to an eye hospital, where Dr. R.K. Prasad (Kanwaljeet) performs a surgery on her eyes. The operation proves to be successful, but before the bandage is taken off from Durga's eyes, Rohit goes to arrange for their wedding. On the way, Rana and his friends try to kill Rohit, and in this incident, both Rana and Rohit die.

When Durga learns about Rohit's death, she tries to commit suicide, but is saved by Dr. Prasad. Durga relates her story to Dr. Prasad who now considers her to be his daughter. He goes to Switzerland for work and takes her along for a change. In Switzerland, Durga meets Raj (Bobby Deol), who is a rich man and at their first meeting, Raj falls in love with Durga. Raj tries to get close to Durga but Durga gets annoyed with his behavior.

Then one day, Raj takes Durga to his house and shows her his dear friend, Rohit's photographs. He tells her that even he is suffering the loss of his best friend. Dr. Prasad convinces Durga that Raj is a very good boy and that he wants to get married to her. Durga agrees to get married to Raj and so the family prepares for the wedding. Raj and Durga get engaged.

The pressure keeps mounting. Sanjay finds himself in a no win situation. On one hand is the certainty of losing Trisha if she finds out the truth about Nisha. And on the other, Nisha's threat to kill Trisha is chillingly real! Life has becomes hell for Sanjay.

Then as suddenly as Nisha had entered Sanjay's life, a shadow from her ugly past returns to haunt Nisha ? Harsh (Sameer Dharmadhikari)! Harsh abetted her in the murder of an underworld goon who was carrying a fabulous amount of money. Harsh volunteered to get rid of the body and while he was gone, Nisha disappeared and alongwith her, the money. And now Harsh has traced her and wants his share. But there's a problem. Pyare and FTV help Chander in remembering Janardhan Bhai. The colony has a saviour in form of Janardhan Bhai. If anyone tries to misbehave with the girls in the colony, he chops off their arms. But for time being he is in the prison. But Janrdhan Bhai has left Jeeva to take care of the colony. But FTV is a old time friend of Jeeva. So FTV manages to bribe Jeeva and carry on the mole searching work smoothly.

But there's one exception - his work obsessed dutiful nurse Naina (Sushmita Sen).

Tanya then meets Urmila (Tina Majumdar) who is an aspiring model. Urmila gets selected for an Ad campaign for Tanya's agency but she is unable to perform. Tanya probes into Urmila, where Urmila tells Tanya about her dark past. Urmila's father was a drug peddler who was arrested and later died in the prison. Her mother was drug addict and she also had died in the hospital. She was then handed over to her uncle who tried to molest her and then sent her to an orphanage. Her life in orphanage was no less than hell and she developed a hatred for men.

Tanya consoles Urmila and has sympathy for her. She helps her to come out of the emotional trauma and helps her become a celebrity. Tanya and Urmila become friends and they start sharing beautiful moments together. Vikram (Tarun Arora) is a celebrity and a top model. He is ambitious and wants to marry Tanya. Karan is against the relationship of Urmila and Tanya. He tells Vikram to make Urmila fall in love with him only then Tanya would out of jealousy marry Vikram.

Morani and Torani who own a local music company are inspired with his voice and engage him for their company. Another Canada based Music Company Angel International Music extends offer to Vicky for musical stage shows in Canada on lucrative and handsome terms which he gladly accepts and returns the advance paid to him by Morani and Torani. The Morani and Torani now want to destroy him and plan to liquidate him physically. But instead Anjali falls a prey to their attack and is injured and confined to bed.

Vicky is in a fix. He does not desire to leave Anjali in lurch and join the Angel International Music Company as required but at the same time he has to honor his commitments. Anjali persuades him to proceed to States for his musical shows. Reluctantly and under her pressure he leaves for Canada.

In Canada he meets Natasha (Karisma Kapoor), the proprietress of Anjali International Music Company. She extends and renders all help and assistance to Vicky for his shows. Vicky successfully earns name and fame and is recognized and acknowledged as most successful pop singer of the century and draws inspiration from Anjali even in her absence. Physically she is not with him but she is always there to inspire and goad him on.

On the other hand Natasha likes, admires, dotes on Vicky and is enchanted by his magnetic personality and falls in love with him. Success binds them together and this leads to their physical intimacy. Vicky feels guilty and realizes that he has betrayed his friend Anjali and relents and repents but to no avail as he stands committed to Natasha for his success and popularity.

Everyone remembers what happened to Baburao, Raju and Shyam when 'Hera Pheri' ended? Well, they became rich; in fact super rich, because they managed to save the daughter of a rich businessman [Kulbhushan Kharbanda] after she was kidnapped by BAD MAN Gulshan Grover!

And what happened to all that money from thereon?

Did Casanova Raju throw it all away due to his philandering ways?
Was Shyam able to repay all his loans and still save some for him and his family?
Did Baburao succeed in sending off all the creditors happy from his doors and furnish his damaged garage?

Well, not much is known about others but at least Raju wanted a quick way out to increase his wealth. Each of them did want to invest money at the right place but 'shortcut' Raju had some different plans. After all the man, who never shied away from saying "Main Paise Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Kar Sakta Hoon!", could hardly change!

He had a PLAN. A plan that could double the investment in quick time. And for that they needed some money to get started. So what's the trouble? Well, the trouble is that the combined money of three of them too wasn't anywhere near what was actually wanted on the table!

While simple-at-heart and clean-at-mind Shyam and Baburao didn't really have much clue about how to get started, Raju [as expected] knew how to get out of this tricky situation! The trick was to find two investors who could help them in arranging for money and convince them that this was going to be profitable for everyone involved!

Soon he did find the investors, one of them being none other than Rajpal Yadav. But he has his own troubles as well! How? Because he himself has borrowed money from a 'totla' DON - Sharat Saxena. He stammers, but he kills!

In their quest for more money and wealth, Baburao, Raju and Shyam find themselves to be a part of one more exciting adventure of their life. They do take a risk and now they have to run to to save themselves!

Where as in Tom's life there's Bijlee (Kim Sharma), a machchiwaali, who is completely besotted by Tom, and does not leave any stone unturned to express her desire. On the other hand there is Suprano (Gulshan Grover) - a Bad Man who is out to prove that he is the worst villain ever. Tom, Dick and Harry - Unknowingly become the target of Suprano, by being the biggest barrier in his business deals.
