India is
an idea dying for.. whether u are Hindu or
Muslim. An inhospitable graveyard at half
the height of Everest, that was Kargil. The
cream of a nation's youth reduced to a mass
of blood, scorched flesh... and memories of valor.
The story had to be told.
Before we forget... Kargil is not just a
cold, isolated place. It is now an
unforgettable landmark in our history. There
is a timeless lesson in the story; a
testament to the human spirit, the bravery
of our officers and our jawans. This film is
a tribute to their memories. A tribute to
the bravest of the brave. What is
astonishing and must be told, what is truly
heroic about our boys is that they fought
fairly. Yes, fairly. The enemy had already
breached the rules of peace. If our Army,
too, had crossed the L.O.C., they might have
finished the war in 7 days flat. Our boys
were angry, they were seething, but they
showed tremendous restraint. They did not
cross the L.O.C., no matter the provocation,
the agony, the frustration of seeing their
comrades dying around them. And so a 7-days
war took 80 days to finish, took so many
more lives than was actually necessary. |

in the aftermath of Prime
Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination. The story is of Kripal Singh's (Chandrachur Singh) anguish
over the detention and torture of
his bosom friend Jassi (Raj Zutshi), after he is picked
up by the police arbitrarily for the alleged murder of an MP in New Delhi.
An offence with which he is not even remotely connected. Incidentally Kripal
is engaged to marry Jassi's sister Veeran (Tabu in a National Award winning

the police, and the grave injury
and injustice to his friend, Kripal leaves home and wanders aimlessly.

what is happening around him. Sanatan introduces Kripal to a group of
youngsters, who were affected by one or the other incidents during the 1984
Delhi riots. Soon events unfold
which mirror the tragedy that overtook Punjab ... Gulzar's award-winning masterpiece is not to be missed. Featuring
super hit songs "Chappa Cappa..." and "Paani Paani Re"

DABAS, RAJIT KAPUR, BOMAN IRANI, SUDHIR
JOSHI, RAJU KHER, VISHWASS PAANDYA, PREM
CHOPRA & WAHEEDA REHMAN
Indian cinema has taken us to many
exotic territories around the world. Anupam
P. Kher’s ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara’
based on Jahnu Barua’s unusual script
carries the audience to an un-chartered
territory, where they have never truly
ventured before…the human brain.
The film structures the narrative by telling
a simple story of a man’s illness and his
daughter’s love, understanding and
commitment to find her father’s treatment,
overcoming a host of problems through her
faith and determination.
It is a film that connects two disparate
events together. One, of a small middle
class family in present day Mumbai
struggling to come to terms with the fact
that the head of the family is now suffering
from early dementia and two, the
assassination of the father of the nation,
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

MEENAXI*
- Tale of 3 Cities
An Art Film by M.F. Husain
Tabu, Raghuvir Yadav, Nadira Babbar and
Introducing Kunnal Kapoor
Nawab, (Raghuvir Yadav) a popular
novelist of Hyderabad, is suffering from the
classic case of writer's block. Five years
have elapsed. Stories of substance seem to
have dried up.
Almost providentially, Nawab comes across
Meenaxi (Tabu). The young woman is enigmatic
and individualistic. She's not quite willing
to perform the part of a passive muse.
Meenaxi assumes different personae. She can
be the mysterious perfume trader of
Hyderabad, the exotic desert bloom of
Jaisalmer and the orphaned Maria of Prague.
Inexorably, she consolidates her command
over the novelist. She dismisses his renewed
attempts at writing as insubstantial and
hackneyed, plunging him into a state of
deeper despair. She is scathingly critical
about his story and is amused by one of his
characters, the lovelorn and awkward
Kaameshwar (Kunnal Kapoor). |

MILAN*
Sunil Dutt, Nutan, Jamuna & Deven Verma
Milan is a story
of Radha (Nutan), the lovely daughter of a
rich Zamindar who is ferried across the
river everyday by a young boatman, Gopi
(Sunil Dutt). Surrounded by the shimmering
waters, a strange bond develops between two
people that society has deemed so unequal.
It would seem that such a love is doomed to
die, yet at its core is of such a sweet,
innocent intensity that it begins to look
real, so possible. Will Gopi and Radha find
true happiness or will the great chasm of
class and wealth tear them apart forever?
Milan is considered as one
of the highlights in Nutan's glorious career
as actress nonpareil, winning her that years
Filmfare Award for Best Actress. The film
was released in 1967, which was also the
year when various other blockbusters were
released. In the face of such stiff
competition, the film was nominated for a
total of 9 Filmfare Award nominations of
which it won 3, including the Best
Supporting Actress for Telugu actress,
Jamuna. But none of the awards were more
deserving than the Filmfare Best Music
Director Award which Laxmikant Pyarelal won
for Milan's music. Simple sweet melodies
that captured the heart of the film and went
on to become one of the duo's most memorable
scores with songs like "Sawan Ka Mahina",
"Ram Kare Aisa Ho Jaye", "Mubarak
Ho Sab Ko" and "Hum Tum Yug Yug Se
Yeh Geet Milan Ke". |

This movie is full of joy. Happy, cheerful, with so many characters, and
most of them good, interesting ones. It is the story of a wedding in upper
class Delhi. A large family spread all over the world reunites for the big
event and all the ties and feelings between siblings, cousins, parents,
friends are shown and expressed in a light but touching way. Love, friendship,
envy, pain, sorrow, loneliness, passion and hope in a nearly perfect mix. This
movie is full of colors and music, and it is an accurate portrait of modern
India (the wealthier part of it at least). All actors are good, and some of
them are gorgeous too. Very refreshing as there are no super stars, no blood,
no perfect special effects, no sex. Mira Nair you are great ! Hope you'll give
us many other movies this good. |

MOTHER
INDIA (MEHBOOB'S* CLASSIC - 1957)
Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, Raj
Kumar
From India, the cradle of the gods,
comes this epic drama of an Indian mother,
the nuclease round which revolves the
tradition and culture of ages in this
ancient land. In India, woman is a part of
man. With marriage she merges her
individuality into her husband's and both
together form a single entity in the
society. The one without the other is but
half the story of an eternal harmony going
beyond a single birth and through seven
births as the Indian scriptures say. A
woman's marriage is thus an eternal
spiritual bond and in her absolute
dedication to her husband, her single prayer
is to die in the presence of her husband and
be carried out by him even as bride in
death. To this eternal Indian woman, the
home is her temple, the husband is her god,
the children his blessings and the land her
great mother.
This is the story of one such Indian woman,
a supreme symbol of millions of mothers that
make this ancient land land Mother India |

aware of the important people in our
life - our parents, grandparents,
friends. But the one person who will
matter most in our life - the one we
will love and cherish -He keeps secret
from us. Why? Na Tum Jaano Na Hum. Only
He knows! And only He decides when and
how He will tell us. Who will we fall in
love with? Who will fall in love with
us? Na Tum Jaano Na Hum is the story of
Akshay, Rahul and Esha. Three beautiful
people dreaming of that one special
person. Three young hearts with but one
unfulfilled longing. Three souls that
yearn to be touched by the magical wand
of love. Three innocents floundering on
the complicated path of love. Only He
knows the ending. Only He holds the key
to their happiness. For only he knows...
